Asset Management

Every asset that has ever enrolled on your FGMesh, devices people connect from, and systems you reach.

Reading the register

Each row is one asset. Hostname is the machine's own name as it reports it; FgDNS Hostname is the name it answers to inside the mesh. Those two columns stay in place when you scroll right, so you can always see which asset a row belongs to.

Type is Device or System. Serial Number is the chassis serial where the machine reports one. Owner is the person the device enrolled under, or the asset owner recorded on a system's licence. State is Online, Offline or Revoked.

Filter by hostname, FgDNS hostname, serial number or owner. The list is paged; change how many rows you see with Per page.

Revoking and deleting

These are two steps, and the order matters.

1. Revoke ends the asset's access. It stops authenticating, stops resolving and stops being offered as somewhere to connect. It stays on the register, marked Revoked, along with its history.
2. Delete removes it from the register for good, along with its mesh name and any shares or grants. It is offered only on an already-revoked asset, and it cannot be undone.

Access log entries survive deletion. They carry their own copy of the name, so the record of who connected to what does not empty when an asset is removed.

A system currently acting as a Router cannot be revoked. Doing so would strand the addresses it advertises. Switch Router off first.

Router

Switch Router on to make a system a way through to other addresses on its network, rather than somewhere reachable only in itself. What it advertises is configured under Private Access Policy.
